The exporting of processed foods to international markets is explored. Advantages include the opening of a whole new market and technological innovation of the industry through foreign exposure. Drawbacks are the cost is sometimes prohibitively high, foreign markets often have quotas because the countries themselves are trying to export food, and marketing and labeling rules can exclude foreign products.
