The 1994 Dolcetto and 1993 Barbera are the best wines from Piedmont being released in 1995. The 1992 Barbaresco and 1991 Barolo fail to live up to the 1989 and 1990 vintages. Top-scoring and best-value Piedmont wines are rated on a scale of one to 100, with tasting notes provided.

Italian wines tested for unapproved chemical
Article Abstract:
Some Italian wine producers of cheap jug wines added grape juice to the finished product and then included MITC, a chemical which prevents the wine from fermenting a second time. US authorities have discovered the tainted wine in tests. MITC is not considered a health hazard.
