Sutter Home's 1.5-liter popular premium varietals will be shipped with new reusable tops. This is a first in the industry, as better wines have always had cork stoppers. The corks are for image only today and many wine producers would like to replace them.

Chalone restructures after tough year

Chalone was badly affected by the recession in 1992 and sustained a loss of $345,000 in just one quarter. The large publicly traded concern owns a number of wineries and vineyards. Management states that the restructuring is not related to finance.
