The lure of land in Napa

Vintner Agustin Huneeus has acquired 280 acres of prime, undeveloped land in Rutherford and has developed a partnership with Peter Eckes for an estate and wine that are both called Quintessa. The land was purchased for $7 million from the heirs of restaurateur George Mardikian.

Nathan Fay's soft touch
Article Abstract:
Nathan and Nellie Fay planted a 70-acre vineyard in 1960 in the Napa Valley area known as Stags Leap. They paid $700 an acre for their vineyard. Nathan Fay made small amounts of wine for himself and his friends, and these wines are outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons.
