Article Abstract:
Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and some distinguished sparkling wines are being produced in Anderson Valley, Mendocino County, CA. The 15 mile long, 2 mile wide valley offers significant changes in microclimate from one end to the other enabling a variety of wines to be produced.

Russian River Valley
Article Abstract:
The Russian River Valley in California produces some of the best Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in the state. The Valley, which has 9,000 acres of vineyards, was declared an American Viticultural Area in 1983. Visits to several wineries are discussed.

Salute! California goes Italian
Article Abstract:
California wineries are cultivating more Italian grapes than ever before. Sangiovese, Malvasia and Barbera are increasingly planted. Louis M. Martini Winery and Heitz Wine Cellars are already known for great Italian wines.
