Open or closed? A world of difference: a history of homocysteine research
Article Abstract:
Folic acid has been found to be important in preventing the birth of infants with neural tube defect. Homocysteine research has enabled medical scientists to discover the connection between the genetic mutation, methionine-homocysteine metabolism and lack of folic acid, or B vitamins. This discovery may have implications for other types of birth defects.
