Bordeaux in France is known worldwide for its red wines. Most of the wines come from the vineyards of the Gironde River in Medoc, and north of the Dordogne River in Pomerol. One has only to look beyond the growth levels to find the best and less-expensive ones.

There are at least ten wine collections lovers can choose from in St. Valentine's Day. Some of which are the Merlot's 1994 River Falls, which is herbal, smoky and ripe, and Marsanne's 1994 Preston Vineyards which is full of vanilla and tangy acidity.
