Robert Evans Woods played football for both the US Naval Academy and West Point military academy in 1940-41 and 1942. He was admitted to Annapolis in 1940 and played on the football team until he flunked out. He was sworn in as a cadet at West Point right before the deadline for new cadets. He played at West Point and served in the Army upon graduation.
