America's dangerous railroad crossings
Article Abstract:
Majority of railroad accidents in the US are caused by poor maintenance of facilities and the incompetence of local and state officials to address such issues. In 1996 alone, a total of 4054 collisions were reported, which left 415 people dead and 1554 badly injured.

Lost in Knife Hill Canyon

The story of four-year-old Danny Coates-Finke's wilderness ordeal was considered a miracle when he showed only signs of slight hypothermia after being lost in the Knife Hill Canyon area of New Mexico for 47 hours. Snow fell while the boy was lost in the rugged area.
