Battle for the Aleutians
Article Abstract:
American soldiers were forced to brave the cold weather in the Aleutian Islands to reclaim the territory from the Japanese during World War II. The Japanese, which invaded the Aleutians in June 1942, occupied the islands to divert US troops from the Midway Islands which they intended to attack.

Sacrifice for victory
Article Abstract:
US citizens during World War II had to pursue an austerity program to support the financial and logistic needs of their troops overseas. Thus, they willingly gave up their usual consumption of basic amenities such as sugar and purchase of such commodities as shoes.
