Article Abstract:
A group of Boy Scouts was able to explore the Grand Canyon in May 1994. Their hike followed the Hermit Trail that crosses that river and climbs the canyon walls. The scouts discovered the geological strata that revealed the age of the canyon.

Bike blast
Article Abstract:
Almost 300 boy scouts participated in a 200-mile bike tour from Seattle, WA, to Portland, OR, in Jun 1991. Rest stops were set up every 10 or 20 miles. The fastest cyclists traveled at an average speed of 17.2 miles per hour.

Jim Newman applied to become an astronaut while studying for a PhD in physics. He had two years of basic training before his first mission and receives about a year of advanced training for each new assignment.
