Article Abstract:
The earthquake that struck Japan on February 2 was not the feared "big one." It was caused by friction between the two lower plates beneath Tokyo, not the two upper plates. When the upper plates shift, a cataclysmic earthquake will result, destroying not only buildings, but also the Japanese and world economies.
