Check your companions: problems of a major reference book
Article Abstract:
The purpose of a reference book is to guide readers, students, and researchers. However, the question remains whether the book's claims and findings are reliable. The Oxford Companion to Australian Music presents a broad range of references about Australian music, but many complain it does not have an explicit selection criteria and the reader must approach the coverage with caution.
