Mild- to medium-grade acne in adults can be treated with over-the-counter combination therapies, with treatments containing benzoyl peroxide, antibiotics, sulfur and alpha hydroxy acids effective. Serious acne can be treated with hormonal treatments or the prescription drug Tazorac in gel form.
