Richard Thaler of the University of Chicago School of Business is a rising celebrity because his behaviorist theories run amok of traditional economic theory. Consumers are not rational in their spending and saving choices, says Thaler, who documents anomalies in a day-to-day models of choice he calls 'mental accounting'.
