Forgotten highways: rediscovering the roads of yesterday
Article Abstract:
Lincoln Highway was the first coast-to-coast road in the US, and it runs through several fabled spots in Iowa and Nebraska. Route 66, whose itinerary includes Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas, is known as 'America's Main Street.' The National Road was a pioneering road that had its heyday in the 19th century.
