Marathon, FL, Boy Scouts Troop 901 went to the Florida Keys to fish for tarpons. The tarpons the scouts caught escaped by cutting their fishing lines and spitting their hooks. Descriptions of tarpon, barracuda, warsaw grouper, striped mullet and pinfish are also provided.

Make tracks to scouting's museum

The National Scouting Museum is located on the campus of Murray State University in Murray, KY. The museum contains scouting memorabilia, a computerized laser disk display that tests outdoor skills, animated dioramas and an exhibit on scouting in the movies.

A Boy Scout troop in Issaquah, WA, took an October trip into the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. They learned the importance of trees, and how to protect them while camping. Steps in a low-impact, no-trace outing are given.
