Biosynthesis of phycobilins
Article Abstract:
Phycobilins are open-chian tetrapyrroles that function as chromophores of photo-harvesting chromoproteins in photosynthetic organisms. It is hypothesized that they are covalently attached to proteins by one or two thioether bonds and can be freed from the protein by heating to reflux temperature in methanol. Various experiments have led to the understanding of phycobilin biosynthesis and the characterization of the enzymes catalyzing the heme oxygenase reaction , biliverdin reduction and ethylidine isomerization.

Into the future: suburbanization
Article Abstract:
The suburban areas grew after World War II because of the need for more homes and the surge in automobile ownership. War time savings and a booming economy meant people had money for big homes in the suburbs. But the growth of suburbs led to urban sprawl, troubled families and inner city blight.
