Article Abstract:
Magazine artists such as Ralph Barton, Miguel Covarrubias, Al Hirschfeld and Paolo Garretto captured the essence of the 1930s in their celebrity caricature found in the pages of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker. Their works will be displayed in the National Portrait Gallery in Washington in April 1998.
