The experience of Edie Clark during Christmas one year, when he saw mysterious messages appearing along the roadsides of his town is presented. The messages were painted on thin strips of wood, painted white and one of the messages that touched Edie's heart was 'Kindle your warm hearts'.

A lady needed to have her house, which was built into the side of a hill, elevated to be able to pour a new foundation. A college professor and logger named Ethan offered to jack up the house, and lower it again after the foundation was filled. He did a professional job successfully.

A person who owns a house in the village of Chesham, NH, describes how a 1920s-vintage postcard of the village sparked curiosity about a bygone era. The postcard depicts a store and railroad line, both of which are no longer standing. Many of the trees and foliage are similar.
