An African American woman describes the training she received in household tasks from her mother and grandmother and the pleasure she finds in this work. For her washing windows is a relaxing and therapeutic pastime that she sometimes shares with her own daughter.

Harnessing the power of light
Article Abstract:
Light has a biological effect on the way the brain controls the flow of the body's chemicals. Light therapy is being used to treat seasonal affective disorder and is being considered as a cure for insomnia, immune disorders, infertility and jet lag.

Chorionic villus sampling can be performed earlier in pregnancy than amniocentesis, but it has a higher risk of causing miscarriages or birth defects. Other prenatal tests are early amniocentesis and ultrasound.
