Some of the rich literature of Alaska about oil exploration are discussed which accounts for the fact that most Americans are opposed to oil drilling in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Some of these include Susan Kollin's Nature's State, John McPhee's In Coming Into the Country and Dick Proenneke's One Man's Wilderness.

Twilight of the sugar maples: Of rising sap-and temperatures-in the Wisconsin woods
Article Abstract:
The varied experiences associated with the sugar maple trees in the Wisconsin woods, which are on decline are described. The local and periodic fluctuations of light, temperature, and precipitation caused by the wobbling of the Earth's orbit could be responsible for the decline of the sugar maple trees.
