Real estate development in New York City transitioned in the early to mid-twentieth century to the control of dynastic Jewish families from Eastern Europe. The Rudin and Milstein families became, and remain, two of the most powerful clans. The lives of scions Seymour Milstein and Lewis Rudin, both of whom died in 2001, are profiled.
