Article Abstract:
Author Mary Wesley wrote her first novel at the age of 67. The novel, entitled 'Jumping the Queue,' was rejected by several publishers before Macmillan Inc. decided to publish it. Wesley's ninth book will be promoted in the US by Viking in Mar. 1995.

Article Abstract:
Issues relating to compensatory payments to descendents of slaves are presented. Payments originated in 1865, when slaves were compensated with a mule and 40 acres of land, but President Andrew Johnson revoked the initiative.
