Aung San Suu Kyi spent six years under house arrest in Rangoon, Myanmar, as a result of her defiance of longtime strongarm Burmese ruler Ne Win. Ne Win's ruination of the Burmese economy, Suu Kyi's assassinated father and her release from detention are discussed.
