Article Abstract:
In 1867 the wife of one of Cranston, Rhode Island's leading citizens organized a May day breakfast to raise money for a new church building and now in 2004 more than 20 area churches and community organizations host their own breakfasts throughout the month of May. The way in which Rhode Island's May breakfasts inspire a Mothers' Day treat is presented.
