Two children living in a small village in northwest Ohio during the 1950s spent their summers reading books which they borrowed from postmistress Marian Flummerfelt's library. The children learned about different places and things and were very grateful to the postmistress.

The US will pay $81.6 million for the renovation of the Thomas Jefferson Building in Washington, DC. The repairs began in 1985 are about half-way done and include repainting murals, cleaning walls and ceilings, and replacing masonry.
