The 'Utne Reader' magazine's 1996 presidential preference poll showed that 21% of respondents want Ralph Nader to become the next president. Support for Nader was strongest among respondents aged 31 to 50 while 76% of total respondents expressed their willingness to vote for a third-party candidate.

Pagers are the most popular and accepted form of communication in Beijing, China due to the lack of phone lines. Although information is relayed in code and sent twice by an operator, the need to call back the person who sent the message becomes more complicated.
