A Wilmington, North Carolina, American Legion post stood beside the Marine 2nd Lt. Ilario Pantano to assure he received a fair legal defense as he faced a possible death sentence on charges of premeditated murder against two suspected Iraqi insurgents. Pantano's charges were eventually dropped and he is free to share the most profound experience of his life.
