.Use of the term "visit with" changes the tone of the word "visit" from purposeful to neighborly. The phrase originated in the South and means the visit may have been held for business but it was a friendly business meeting.

The transitive use of 'grow' with inanimate terms such as 'business' is discussed. The use is consistent with the basic transitive meaning, 'to cause to grow.'
