Gerard Healy and Mark Molz's plane crashed in Killington peak, Vt. in January 1991 due to bad weather. The two pilots faced the odds together despite the injuries they sustained. Their presence of mind and singleness of purpose helped them prevail over their predicament until rescuers arrive.

Fight for life in the Bitterroot Mountains

Thirty-six-year-old Union Pacific Railroad train conductor Paul Daffer was critically injured when he got thrown off his horse while hunting in Idaho's Bitterroot Mountains. Only his self determination prevented him from perishing in the accident.
