Perley Pitkin's personal fireworks
Article Abstract:
Historians recovered 63 still-live Civil War cannon shells in June 1997 at Number 10 Pond in Calais, VT. Officials of Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in Basin Harbor believe that the recovered shells belong to Pitkin, who might have brought them back home to blast out stumps.
