Luxembourg enjoys Europe's highest standard of living and is known for its powerful banking and finance sector and as the headquarters of many European Union institutions. Located at the juncture of Germany, Belgium and France, it occupies part of the plateau of the Ardennes, with forested rolling terrain, mountains and castles that help attract 800,000 visitors annually. Its society is well-integrated, with many foreign workers making up half the work-force and strong education through secondary school.

Television newsman Lloyd Dobyns was fired by NBC News in Mar 1986 as bureau chief and senior Asia correspondent. Instead of feeling dejected, he took this opportunity to try freelance writing. Dobyns says he has always wanted to have this new job.
