Zerah Colburn exhibited a genius for mental calculation at age six, in 1810. He was taken to Europe by his father, Abia, who hoped to make a fortune exhibiting the boy's brilliance. His talent waned with age, and after his father died Zerah returned to Vermont to a mother who did not recognize him.

Return to Cleveland's hideaway
Article Abstract:
One of Pres Grover Cleveland's favorite places toward the end of his life was his home on Duncan Lake in Ossipee, NH, where he pursued his passion for fishing. Today it is an inn known as Acorn Lodge that its owners would like to sell for $199,000. It has five bedrooms, each with its own bath.
