Senate close to vote on flag protection
Article Abstract:
The Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution, Federalism and Property Rights agrees to the passing of a law that will protect the American flag from desecration. Members of the committee believes that the flag should not be destroyed or dishonored in any way.

Flag protection amendment rolls through house
Article Abstract:
The US House of Representatives voted 305-124 on Jun 24, 1999, in favor of HJ Res. 14, the constitutional amendment aimed at protecting the American Flag from desecration. The Democrats voted 113-95 against the amendment, while the Republicans voted 210-10 in favor of the same.
