Article Abstract:
Extending the Most Favored Nation (MFN) status for China will have far-reaching consequences. One view is against imposing limitations on MFN to avoid giving China an excuse to break trade relations. Another does not favor the extension of MFN status to define a strong US stand against Chinese policies.

Senator Sherrod Brown feels that China should not be allowed in the World Trade Organization until they can provide proof that they will respect workers' rights. Senator Doug Bereuter believes that the interests of the United States will be improved if China joins.
