Foundations are the best way to manage the estimated $10 tril US budget surplus which can encourage both an equitable distribution of wealth as well as promoting the eradication of poverty. A democratic foundation, where common folks are allowed to sit on board, becomes a more responsive agency for social justice.

The new face of environmentalism

The focus of environmental movement in the US has shifted from the national to the grass-roots levels. This is a result of declining effectiveness of the movement with the national organizations at the helm. The involvement of grass-roots supporters is needed in changing the movement's orientation.
