Showdown in Simple City
Article Abstract:
Simple City was a gang-ruled community until five men in their 40s, who were either former criminals or substance abusers, felt that there was still some hope left for the war-torn housing project. The group was able to provide gang members with guidance, modest jobs and the inspiration to stay out of the streets.

Treated like criminals
Article Abstract:
The sheriff of Maricopa County's jail system in Arizona tried to address housing problems by borrowing tents from the US Army. By installing electricity and plumbing, the tents managed to accommodate 1000 prisoners. Rules were also laid out, such as no smoking and no coffee.

When criminals go free
Article Abstract:
Most criminals are afforded the chance to leave jail by being under probation. This has raised criminality. Less crimes would be committed if the probation system will be overhauled. Prisons should be increased and frequent offenders should be denied probation anymore.
