Small-town cabbie goes to the big city
Article Abstract:
Eighty-six year old George Millikin of Block Island, RI, has been a cab driver on the island for years, but he recently had his license revoked when he could not pass a road test in Providence. Block Islanders complained, saying the island does not have any traffic lights, but the state refuses to budge.

A do-it-yourself town
Article Abstract:
The town of Marlboro in southern Vermont was first settled in the 1760's and reached a population peak of about 1,300 in the 1820's. Today the residents number 924, most of whom live out among the hills and valleys. It is a town that strongly encourages involvement in community affairs.
