Terry Wise was a third purser at the Yarmouth Castle bound for Nassau, the Bahamas, when the ship caught fire. Almost singlehandedly, he saved more than 30 people from the burning ship. Thirty years later, his daughter Leila succeeded in having her father's heroism recognized by the Coast Guard.

Australian Marjorie Tidman showed an uncommon courage in fending off the the attack of a burglar who broke into her house. Tidman withstood the blows and attacks of the burglar and lived through the experience to see the burglar convicted for his crime.
