Spinal cord injury affects more than mobility
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that over 25% of the 200,000 Americans with spinal cord injuries are military veterans. Therefore, the Veterans Health Administration has spinal cord research as a top priority. Areas of research include possible cures, vocational rehabilitation, treadmill training and the prevention of other medical complications.

'Holiday blues' or depression?
Article Abstract:
Emotional lows may be amplified during the holiday season, but depression is a year-round problem that affects many people, including veterans. Symptoms of depression include sadness, changes in appetite and sleeping habits, and loss of interest in activities. Effective treatment for depression is available from physicians.

Adults should be sure to receive recommended vaccinations and keep their immunization records up to date. Every year preventable diseases kill thousands of adults, and some diseases are dangerous to the elderly that may be mild in younger people.
