A 16-year-old lad initially disliked having to labor heavily under the hot sun as a carpenter's aide, a job which his father found to keep him busy for the summer. When summer ended, however, he was not only 20 lbs heavier as he was also prouder of himself and thankful to his father for having taught him how to be a man.

Meeting Mr. Griffin
Article Abstract:
A son meets Griffin who was a classmate of his father at Yale in 1939. Griffin's memories of his old classmate brought back cherished moments shared between father and son. The games of catch and the afternoon trips taken together by father and son were reminisced by the son.
