The 1999 Alfred Eisenstaedt Awards
Article Abstract:
The 1999 Alfred Eisenstadt Awards honor seven photojournalists for capturing unique portraits that go beyond making an image of a person or persons. These photographs reflect the essence of their subjects including a recreation of the evolution of the Neanderthal man with Ben Stiller, a young man with prosthetic arms, trip-hop musician Trick Business's candid appeal, descendants of John Singer Sargent, inner city teen beauty contestants, TV program `Seinfeld' actors as characters from `The Wizard of Oz,' and former prostitutes who help others get off the streets. Winning photojournalists are Mark Seliger, Dan Winters, Richard Burbridge, David Seidner, Dana Lixenberg, and Jill Peters.
