The burning of the Swamp Meadow bridge
Article Abstract:
The covered bridge over Swamp Meadow in Foster, RI, was burned down on Sep 11, 1993. It was the lone covered bridge of a rural community. Three boys, two aged 19 and the other, 17, were found guilty of arson. Even without notice, the community decided to rebuild the bridge, which was finished in Nov 1994.

Pocahontas: a bridge toward peace
Article Abstract:
Pocahontas saved the life of John Smith at least once and also became a peacemaker between the Jamestown, VA, colony and the Powhatans. Pocahontas became known as Rebecca Rolfe after marrying English settler John Rolfe. She died of a sudden illness in 1617.
