Canadian captives explore tax havens
Article Abstract:
Canadian captive insurance companies continue to grow, notwithstanding changes in Canada's tax administration. Their growth is fueled by an incentive for loss control, retention building, access to reinsurance, expense minimization and tax efficiency issues. As of the end of 1996, captives owned by Canadian companies have increased to 170, with Barbados, Bermuda, British Columbia, the Isle of Man and Dublin, Ireland as preferred locations.

Article Abstract:
Solomon believes that Congress has substantially changed the manner by which it has done business since he first became a legislator in 1978. He believes that one of the worst changes is that about less than 1/3 of the members of Congress are military veterans, which has inexorably weakened the military.
