The gift horses
Article Abstract:
The citizens of Bridgeport, CT launched a movement to save 72 hand-carved wooden carousel horses that the city wanted to sell off to help defray budget troubles. The movement, led by graphic designer George Zariff, persuaded the city to keep the horses and open a carousel museum.

An iridescence of iris
Article Abstract:
The Presby Memorial Iris Gardens in Montclair, NJ, has 6,000 varieties of the flower. It is tended to by volunteers from the community and enjoyed by all. The garden was founded in 1927 by Barbara Walther, leader of the Montclair Garden Club.
