A young American journalist was invited to a private dinner with King Hussein after conducting an interview in 1978. The Jordanian monarch, who was in between wives at that time, showed a side of his personality that was never revealed in public during the course of that evening's conversation.

Mothers in the poorest part of East Los Angeles have united to save their children's lives. Rival street gangs have been at war and the mothers have been spurred to action to stop the violence with the death of several young boys. The women's activism is rooted in liberation theology.
