They fought for freedom
Article Abstract:
Many Afro-Americans fought in the War of Revolution in exchange for freedom. Eighty years later, they fought again in the Civil War that ended slavery. Their role and contributions in the two wars, however, was not widely recognized in American history.

The Buffalo Soldiers
Article Abstract:
The Buffalo Soldiers were African American cavalrymen who served in the West for more than 20 years in the last part of the 19th century. They were known for their bravery in fighting Indians, battling outlaws and guarding the mails.
