Who was Pocahantas?

Disney's animated film 'Pocahontas' presents an idealized version of the the Indian woman who was the first to marry a white man. In reality she was kidnapped by colonialists and married John Rolfe who took her to England, where she died of tuberculosis. She became the symbol for many conflicting causes.
