An interview with Tom Riley: the now-retired Orange County supervisor remains upbeat
Article Abstract:
Thomas F. Riley, former Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of the bankrupt Orange County, CA, is worried about the financial crisis in the county but is optimistic about the economic future of the county. Riley believes that the board of supervisors handled the financial collapse very well and praised the County Counsel Terry Andrus. Riley feels that the Treasurer of the County, Robert Citron, was responsible for the economic debacle but regrets that he did not pay enough attention when complaints about Citron's investment policies were brought to his notice.

Diversity in South Central
Article Abstract:
The Korean Americans and African Americans of Southern California are trying to overcome their ethnic differences and work toward better understanding of each other. Animosity between the two communities dates back to 1965, and it became apparent in 1992 Los Angeles riots, when more than 2,000 Korean shops were destroyed. However, action groups such as the Los Angeles County Human Relations Committee and Korean Youth and Community Center have been successfully trying to bring together the estranged communities.
